Exploring Acrylics With Jen Livia

Supplies can also be rented for $15 per class, so if you want to try a new medium this is a great way to do so without investing in all of the supplies.

Spend the day playing and painting in these half-day Acrylic workshops with teacher and painter Jen Livia. If you have ever wanted to try Acrylics but didn't know where to start or have dabbled in Acrylics and need direction these are the class for you. We will explore how to mix colors, apply layers, work with Mediums, create texture and work on details for both Abstract and Realistic paintings. Each student should be able to complete one or more paintings in each class.

No drawing skills needed for any class, you do not need to know how to draw to paint!

Mini Masters Acrylic Class

Friday, Sept. 10th

ALL Day Class 11am-5pm $98 each

or Half Day 11am-2pm $49 each

In this fun workshop you will create several mini still life masterpieces in Acrylic paint. The emphasis of the class is to foster creative experimentation and create loose free paintings in vibrant whimsical colors as imaginative as you are. We will explore how you can free your painting style, capture hi-lights, create shadows, how to use color to capture a mood, work on multiple surfaces at once and work with both positive and negative painting. Subjects include florals, fruit and vegetables, landscapes and whatever your imagination can foster.

Supplies required for class are 2 sheets of watercolor paper 11x15” 140 pound, Basic acrylic paint colors including (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple and white), Variety of acrylic brushes.

You can choose to take the class as either a full day or half day, either way you will go home with at least one finished piece.

Fix and Finish Acrylic Class

Saturday, Sept. 18th 2pm-5pm

$49 each

Pull out your unfinished paintings from the back of the closet and under the bed for a fun day of fixing and finishing. Bring the work you are stuck on and don't know how to finish and we will find a way to save those paintings you can't stand. We can find a way to fix your "mistakes", refocus your direction, smooth any rough patches, strengthen your composition and transform your old paintings into new masterpieces.

If you don't have one to fix, bring any ideas you have and we will create a great painting together.

Go With The Flow Acrylic Class

Friday, Sept. 24th

This class emphasizes loose and creative experimentation as we work on painting free flowing nature mini paintings. We will work on several different surfaces at one time as we layer our textures and glazes. By the end of class each student will have several paintings. Our models for class can be anything you wish, so bring several ideas.

You can choose to take the class as either a full day or half day, either way you will go home with at least one finished piece.

“Fall Fusion"

Paint the fall season with all of its colors and transitioning forms. We will be painting a variety of trees and tree forms, come with any ideas and inspiration (including photos, real leaves and pieces of bark). Along with our trees we will be painting the fall landscapes including mountains and whatever you can imagine.

Working with Color and Light in Abstract Painting

Want to learn how to compose an abstract painting full of life without having to follow rules? We will take your image and reduce the shapes into an interesting abstract painting full of movement, color and light. You fill find your own abstract style as we learn how to move and layer acrylic paint. We will look at how to combine colors in a dynamic way to create paintings with the WOW factor. Discover the luminous qualities of Acrylic paint as layer colors with washes and add variation with dry brush techniques.

Speed Dating With Acrylic Mediums - Mixed Media and Beyond

A fast and exciting round-robin tactile exploration of acrylic mediums. Hands-on stations will be setup to examine, manipulate and play with a stunning variety of acrylic mediums. This is the perfect way to get to know the intimate working properties of these fascinating painting tools. You'll be suduced by the possibilities.

Supplies: (Paints, mediums and a variety of mixed medium materials will be provided) Students must bring: 1-2 surfaces for your work Multiple substances to add (organic materials, plants and seeds, paper, tissue/ wrapping paper, stamps, magazines, plastic shells, sand, fabric, pictures, glass, metal, anything you can think of).

“Seascapes and Waves”

Learn how to layer paint to create depth, texture and mood in your seascape, we will be painting a beach scene with palm trees, the shore and sand. One of the other projects we will paint focuses on how to create movement in your stroke to make a wave as well as how to capture the foam on a crashing wave using brush strokes and sponging techniques.

“Flowers Big and Small”

Saturday, Oct. 30st 10:30am-1:30pm

This class will focus on creating paintings of both individual flowers, bouquets and bushes of flowers. We will discuss how to compose an interesting close up and how to pick what to focus on. The flowers will be loose and vibrant and details will be added along the way. Several pieces will be accomplished as we paint with wet acrylics.
