Ocean Water and Reflections
Sunday, May 25th 1-4pm $49 each or $64 with supplies Learn to paint soft seas, rolling waves and crashing waves in this fun class all about the ocean. You will choose from a variety of images to inspire you or bring your own and Jen will walk you through how to paint your chosen image. You will learn a variety or tips on how to paint movement in the water, create depth in your landscape and add the magic sun kissed skies and reflections. Choose to paint a vibrant painting or a softer soothing image, this class is open to a variety of subjects for inspiration so come excited to paint waves. |
Textured Painting Seascapes and Sunsets
Explore GOLDEN Mediums and how to use the Pallet Knife Sunday, July 6th 1 pm - 4 pm $64 with all supplies Learn how to add texture to your acrylics with GOLDEN Gels and Pastes while creating your own Seascape and Sunset painting. You will learn how to mix colors, what different mediums look like and how to apply the mixture to your surface using a variety of techniques. Bring your own inspiration if you have an idea, choose from one of the many samples Jen has, or come with an open mind to explore the endless possibilities. Move beyond just paint into a new world of magic. |
Mixed Media Textured Acrylics Pick Your Subject
Saturday, July 26th 12pm - 3pm $49 each or $64 with supplies Explore the magic of create multi-layered paintings with vibrant colors, textures and dimension. You will learn how to choose colors and values for each layer of your painting to create a dynamic image. Use a variety of stencils in your background layers to add layers of textures. Then add a focal point with your foreground subject which can be anything from bees, dragonflies, trees, flowers and people. Learn how to incorporate metallic, iridescent and interference paints as well to add a little magic. Students can choose to work on several smaller paintings to create mini worlds or pick on larger piece to focus on. This class is about exploring a variety of fun techniques so come ready to play. |
Moon Scapes/ Moon Scenes
Sunday, August 3rd 1pm - 4pm $49 each or $64 with supplies Learn how to paint a variety of moons in this class all about the night sky. Choose to focus on a series of the moon phases or a single one in your landscape, and add a little whimsy of the night sky to your living space. You will learn how to use glazing liquid with your paints, what brushes to use and how to create craters, transparent elements, where to paint shadows to look realistic and where to add hi-lights. I love painting moons as part of my overall landscape and paintings all about the subject. I feel connected to the moon in so many ways ad I hope you join me in a little astronomy voyage of your own. |
Class Supplies Recommended
The better your supplies the easier it is to paint and learn. If you have any questions please feel free to give Jen a call 805-827-1095, please note you do not need everything below, this is what I like. Canvas - 12x12, 11x14 or 16x20 Brushes - Brand I recommend Silver Brush several sizes ans shapes including: Filbert, angle, large wash brush and small round or liner. This is a great place to purchase any of the brushes from Silver Brush Some of the brushes I like the best are: Firmer brush Bristlon Brushes, softer brush Black Pearl and my most favorite (and more expensive) Monza Medium -Golden Acrylic Glazing Liquid Paints - There are so many colors to choose from, this is a list of some of my favorites. Brand that I suggest is Golden Heavy Body Acrylics for most painting you can get a set of basic colors to get you started and add from there. Must Have Color - Titanium White Neutrals

![]() Instructor: Jen Livia is a native Californian, receiving her art degrees from UC San Diego, San Francisco Art Institute and Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising. She is a Golden Working Artist Alumni for Golden Artist Colors and Silver Brush Educator presenting lectures, demonstrations and workshops in acrylics, watercolors, and mosaics in Central California. She has been painting since she was a kid and teaching art for over a decade. She teaches over 3,000 people a year in Ventura's Elementary Schools and at Red Brick.
