March

Spring Flowers Weekly Watercolor Workshop with Phyllis Gubins (class link)
$55 each class or $70 each class with all supplies

Celebrate the freshness of Spring through watercolor! In this 4-week workshop, we’ll explore the beauty of springtime subjects while building skills in watercolor techniques. Each week we’ll focus on a different theme—delicate transparent blossoms, budding wildflower landscapes, vibrant spring daffodil florals and a fresh still life tulip bouquet. You’ll learn how to capture light, color harmony, and the soft transparency that makes watercolor the perfect medium for spring subjects.

Wednesday, March 4 12-3 PM - Spring’s Transparent Flowers
Let’s capture the delicate beauty of transparent flowers and add a butterfly of your choice. Students will learn essential watercolor techniques, including wet-on-wet blending, layering, and color glazing to create luminous floral petals and iridescent insect wings.

Wednesday, March 11 12-3 PM - Country Lane & Wild Flower meadow
We’ll begin with a classic spring landscape, a winding country lane bordered by a field of wildflowers. You’ll learn how to paint depth in a scene, layer washes for soft backgrounds, and use vibrant brushstrokes to suggest blossoms in bloom.

Wednesday, March 18 12-3 PM - Vibrant Spring Daffodils
Next, we’ll paint one of spring’s most iconic flowers, the daffodil. Focusing on a close-up view, you’ll learn techniques for painting petals, capturing luminous yellows, and adding fine details that bring a floral portrait to life.

Wednesday, March 25 12-3 PM - A Vase Bouquet Still Life
We’ll paint a crystal vase filled with Spring Flowers as you practice shadows, transparency, glazing, and capturing the freshness of Spring in this beautiful Still Life.
